Companies, particularly SMEs, face significant financial challenges in contributing to the development on the voluntary nature of standards as the financial burden prevents many companies from participating fully in standardisation activities. Specifically: (1) companies and experts struggle to allocate the necessary resources for voluntary standardisation work due to financial constraints; (2) there is a lack of external funding to support participation in standardisation activities; (3) the costs associated with participation, such as travel expenses, membership fees, and the acquisition of necessary materials, are prohibitive for many companies.
