BOTTL_06 - Low development speed

The development of new areas in standardisation and their standards is slow compared to the development of the corresponding technology. Therefore, it is a challenge for companies to: (1) accept new concepts early on, as they may still integrate or overlap other subject areas under the same umbrella, which can lead to a rapid lack of acceptance and adoption of standards by companies; (2) adopt a newly developed standard quickly. EXAMPLE: This is a particular issue in emerging topics such as additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and circular economy.
